Russia stops flights with Georgia
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree “On certain measures to ensure the national security of the Russian Federation and protect citizens of the Russian Federation from criminal and other illegal actions,” providing for a temporary cessation of air traffic with Georgia.
The corresponding text of the decree was published on the official website President of Russia, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Federal government bodies, government bodies of constituent entities of the Russian Federation, other government bodies, local government bodies, legal entities formed in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation, organizations and individuals under the jurisdiction of the Russian Federation, in their activities, proceed from the fact that that from July 8, 2019, Russian airlines are temporarily prohibited from carrying out air transportation (including commercial) of citizens from the territory of the Russian Federation to the territory of Georgia.
To recommend that tour operators and travel agents, for the duration of the ban established by paragraph 1 of this Decree, refrain from selling to citizens a tourism product that involves transportation (including commercial) of citizens from the territory of the Russian Federation to the territory of Georgia,” the document says.
The Russian government is also instructed to take measures to ensure the return to the Russian Federation of its citizens temporarily staying in Georgia.
