Russia calls on Georgian leadership to come to their senses
Russia, based on its security interests, will be forced to respond adequately to Georgia's possible entry into NATO. Russian Foreign Ministry representative Maria Zakharova stated this during a briefing, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We understand perfectly well that they (NATO – ed.) aim to encircle us. After this, you ask the question: “What adequate actions will the Russian side take?” Military experts will answer this question...
It just threatens us. And they threaten not because it seems so to us, but because they tell us about it. If 5-7 years ago you told us that “Listen, Moscow, why are you making this up? We interact with NATO because it is beneficial for Georgia, they are definitely not targeting you,” but now you cannot say that. Do you also hear what they say? And their main target is the Russian Federation. This follows from their own statement,” Zakharova noted.
According to her, Tbilisi's integration into NATO changes the regional balance of power.
“This will disrupt the entire regional security system, it will be changed. We will have to respond to this,” Zakharova emphasized.
She gave the example of US relations with Germany and Japan, when the Americans dictate their terms to countries for cooperation with the Russian Federation.
“Do you need this? You have to answer this for yourself. It seems to me that it is beneficial for you and me to develop relations and not allow third parties to interfere in our relations. All experiments have already been completed. We are already seeing the result of these experiments, when these political strategists did everything to ruin relations between our countries,” Zakharova addressed the residents of Georgia.
