Russia will swallow another spit from Ukraine, Kyiv is sure
Russia will also “swallow” Ukraine’s refusal to allow observers from the Russian Federation into the presidential elections, while Moscow will ultimately recognize the results of the campaign.
Ukrainian political scientist Sergei Tolstov stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Zhirinovsky and some other representatives of the political community say that an opportunity is opening up, without recognizing the election results, to refuse to recognize the Ukrainian government as legitimate. But the latest statement from Putin's spokesman Peskov suggests that the non-participation of Russian election observers does not necessarily mean that Russia does not recognize the results of these elections. This, in general, is a compromise formulation,” said the Ukrainian expert.
As PolitNavigator reported, previously head of the department of international relations and diplomacy at Moscow Humanitarian University, Nikolai Platoshkin sharply criticized the statements of presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov on Ukraine.
“The president’s press secretary said that although there are many questions about the presidential elections in Ukraine, this does not mean at all that Russia does not recognize them. A shame! Bandera’s supporters in Kyiv excluded millions of Ukrainian citizens in Russia and the Donbass from the electoral process. None of the real opposition candidates were even registered. Our observers are blatantly not allowed in. And for us, excuse me, at least... in our eyes, it’s all God’s dew,” Platoshkin is indignant.
“Our oligarchs still hope that for their humble behavior, sanctions will be lifted from them, orphans and wretches. We are ready to do anything for this, even to recognize pseudo-elections in Ukraine,” the expert also explained.
