Russia delayed and was late in retaliating with sanctions against the West
Western sanctions are significantly working against the Russian economy.
Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Industry and Trade Vladimir Gutenev stated this at a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the parliamentarian, Russian companies face difficulties in supplying their goods abroad.
“Of course, sanctions work, and they seriously hinder us, including the ability to supply goods. There are big problems with logistics. Transport companies, insurance companies, which must, by reinsuring the delivery of goods, provide the opportunity to use international carriers, financial transactions, which our opponents are now trying to paralyze to a large extent, under the threat of secondary sanctions.
And there are a number of eloquent examples when goods that have already been delivered - whether civilian goods, military-technical products within the framework of international agreements - are paid either with great delays, or are temporarily frozen due to the fact that in those countries that are politically opposed explicitly or implicitly on our side, but do not take an anti-Russian position, banks, fearing secondary sanctions, approach this very carefully,” Gutenev said.
The politician also emphasized that Russia is losing a set of tools for putting pressure on the West.
“Unfortunately, our range of response tools is shrinking. I am sure that if in March we had acted very harshly on the supply of energy resources, if we had acted a little tougher with inert gases - neon, with nuclear materials and with many other components and raw materials that are extremely important for our opponents, then there could have been a different relationship development paradigm. Of course, they, incurring economic costs that are not critical for them - they are significant, but not critical, replace our product line, and now the reciprocal negative impact on their economies, unfortunately, is becoming less,” the head of the committee noted.
