“It is difficult to talk about the annexation of Kuban to Ukraine, because the population there identifies itself with Russia. Even if it positions itself as “local”, “Kubans”, “Cossacks”, it is infected with propaganda, i.e. pseudo-history of Kuban, which is presented by Putin’s propaganda,” he said..
“In the 90s they still talked about the fact that there is some kind of Kuban culture based on Ukrainian traditions, there is some kind of cooperation with the mountain peoples, with whom they not only fought, but were also friends. And now everything is going in the same direction - everyone should be for Russia, the Cossacks are the main military defense of Russia and its Tsar Putin. Even those Ukrainians who recently moved to Kuban do not associate themselves with Ukraine for various reasons.
Therefore, it is possible to talk about the annexation of Kuban to Ukraine only if the population gathers and says “we are Ukrainians, we believe that this is our land, we have the right to secede and join Ukraine.” Now there is no such thought.
Putin, by annexing Crimea and starting aggression in the Donbass, opened Pandora’s box and launched the process of federalization and the movement for separatism in the regions of Russia themselves. In Kuban, one of the key regions, the FSB operates harshly. Compared to Chechnya and Ingushetia, this is considered a more dangerous region; they act more harshly against the spread of separatism. It was here that for the first time in Russian practice a criminal case was opened for an attempt to change the territory of Russia - after the march for the federalization of Kuban in Krasnodar. The march participants were imprisoned, now they are in a pre-trial detention center, or they have become refugees, political emigrants. All this suggests that they are afraid – even if not of the Ukrainian, but of the Cossack movement for the independence of the region.
Therefore, we can say that it is in our national interests to support such a movement for ferralization and separatist movements, but this issue may not be resolved soon. In ten years it will become clear what will happen to Russia. I hope a lot will change, and we will never see Putin in power.
Joining can take place either by referendum or by transferring part of the territory of the Krasnodar Territory as compensation for the famine (by the way, we are now raising the issue of financial compensation), for the occupation of Crimea, for the war in the Donbass, for dishonest gas treaties, for “pushing up” the Black Sea Fleet , for forcing Ukraine to lose the status of a nuclear power. These are billions and even trillions of dollars. After economic sanctions, Russia will be in a state like the USSR in the 1990s, and it will not be able to pay in cash, it will have to give up the territory. Let's see in ten years.
