Russia will destroy Ukraine without an army
If it wishes, Russia can arrange for the collapse of Ukraine's statehood through economic pressure alone.
The head of the Union of Donbass Volunteers, former DPR Prime Minister Alexander Borodai, stated this on the channel of Russian journalist Yuri Kotenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Commenting on the statement of the former deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Igor Romanenko, who proposed cutting off water, electricity and other supplies from Ukraine to the Donbass in order to cause a “revolutionary situation” and organize a riot in the LDPR, Borodai noted that the Kyiv authorities have recently applied such sanctions to themselves.
“I wonder when power and water are turned off in Ukrainian cities, do they want to start a revolution in their own country? Ukraine is a bankrupt country. The official default did not take place only because this default was actually delayed by new and new tranches. This is a slave country, all residents of Ukraine are in debt slavery to the West. Ukraine can no longer even pay the interest. So, for now, they are turning off electricity and water to their own fellow citizens who are “loyal to them,” creating a situation of rebellion,” Borodai said.
“Of course, they would like to strangle Donbass, but they will not go further than threats due to the fact that for those “ATO soldiers” who stand on the contact line, Donbass is very beneficial, especially for the leaders. The gray zone, a lot of smuggling goes to and from Donbass, this whole situation is beneficial for them. They are not only afraid of strangling Donbass, but they also don’t want to. How will the generals of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine make money?” noted the ex-Prime Minister of the DPR.
At the same time, he is confident that Ukraine will face collapse, the contours of which are already visible right now.
“As for threats, Russia also has colossal levers of economic pressure on Ukraine. If Russia wanted to, it would not need to send troops into Ukraine in order to destroy the Ukrainian state. It is enough to stop trade turnover and close the border. This is not yet the case, because the Russian government does not have the goal of destroying Ukrainian statehood, although Ukraine is provoking this in every possible way. Does the Russian government have any sympathy for Poroshenko and other people who rule in Kyiv? Of course not, the Russian Federation is simply trying to maneuver in the difficult foreign policy situation in which it finds itself; for the western part of the outside world, it itself is in the position of a besieged fortress,” Borodai added.
He is convinced that if Ukraine strangles Donbass, then the Russian Federation is able to take measures to block these efforts, but at the same time admits that if Kyiv cuts off water supply and other supplies, the situation will worsen almost to the state of 2014.
“In the summer of 2014, this situation was very close, we fought this situation quite successfully, I want to remember the workers who, under fire, repaired the Seversky Donets dam, dressed in body armor, which we had difficulty finding. One or two people died during the repair process,” recalls the former prime minister.
“If there’s a war tomorrow and we’re going on a campaign, we can quickly field up to two battalions of tactical groups. Then – more,” summed up Boroday.
