Russia has decided to outplay Ukraine on gas “long-term”, it was found out in Kyiv
The announced signing of a new gas agreement can only be considered as a tactical success for Kyiv. Strategically, everything remains vague for Ukraine.
Political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this on the UkrLife Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have already analyzed this memorandum. It's not that simple. I get the impression that Russia is simply trying to outplay Ukraine “in the long run.”
Look, 65 billion cubic meters in the first year and 40 billion cubic meters in the next four years is less than half of what we are currently transiting.
We are currently transiting 90 billion, moreover, we are capable of transiting 150 billion to Europe, and receiving about 300 from Russia. This is data from our gas transportation system. We will lose at least a third of our revenue in the next five years.
In five years we lose five billion. This is the first aspect.
The issue of the future of the pipe has not been resolved, what will happen to it next, its efficiency of use has not been resolved, we have not resolved this issue with this memorandum. But we had to agree forever, to conclude an eternal peace,” Bortnik complains.
