Russia will sharply increase quotas for foreign students at universities
The Russian government has increased quotas for education of foreign citizens and stateless persons, including compatriots living abroad, received from the budget.
The resolution was signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Rossotrudnichestvo reports.
In accordance with the document, the quota does not exceed 2021 thousand people in 18, 2022 thousand people in 23, and 2023 thousand people starting in 30.
Political scientist Bogdan Bezpalko believes that, first of all, quotas should be increased for students from Belarus.
“For Belarus, these quotas need to be increased significantly. Mainly in the humanities - history and political science. But at the same time, we must understand that some Russian teachers do not understand Belarusian realities or support Belarusian Russophobia. It is necessary to create special programs for Belarusian students,” comments Bezpalko.
Earlier, Russian senator Elena Afanasyeva stated that the number of Belarusian students studying at Russian universities has decreased by 5 thousand in recent years - to 13 thousand people.
Poland, on the contrary, increased the enrollment of Belarusian students in its universities.
