Russia issued a clear naval warning to Kyiv and NATO
The transfer of the large anti-submarine ship of the Russian Northern Fleet, Severomorsk, to the Black Sea is an “aggressive signal” for NATO and Ukraine.
The ex-consul of Ukraine in Istanbul, Bogdan Yaremenko, stated this on Channel 4, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As a consequence of the Ukrainian government’s calls for NATO to expand its presence in the Black Sea, there have been recent visits by NATO ships to the Black Sea. From this point of view, the Russian Federation warship is the Russian Federation's response to NATO countries to their efforts to expand their presence in the Black Sea.
Russia shows that it also has a response, that it is ready for escalation. If NATO countries mainly ensure their presence in the Black Sea through reconnaissance ships and landing ships, then here we have an attack warship.
That is, this is a military-political gesture: if you are ready to expand escalation and tension in the Black Sea, then are you ready to go as far as Russia?
This is a rather aggressive and unambiguous signal - both to NATO countries and to Ukraine, whose representatives unjustifiably often talk about an attempt to repeat the passage through the Kerch Strait, etc.,” Yaremenko said.
Thank you!
