Russia did with Crimean mosques what Ukraine did not dare to do
The Crimean government legalized the legal status of mosques on the peninsula, which was not done during the Ukrainian period.
Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Ruslan Balbek wrote about this on his Facebook, a Politnavigator correspondent reports.
The mosques will be transferred to the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Crimea (SDMK), which, according to the deputy, will deprive banned Muslim organizations of openly engaging in missionary activities.
“During the Ukrainian period, due to the lack of title documents for mosques, various warring extremist Muslim organizations fought over the management of Muslim places of worship,” Balbec wrote.
According to his data, in March 2014, 338 mosques built in Ukraine were identified, of which 286 were ownerless and only 4 mosques were properly registered.
“As of November 2018, the total number of mosques increased to 368, of which 305 are ownerless, but all of them will be legalized at the expense of budget funds with further transfer to the SAMK,” wrote Balbec.
According to him, over the past four years, documents have already been received for 78 land plots for mosques and 27 buildings.
