Russia has seriously increased non-resource exports
Last year, the Russian Federation increased non-resource and non-energy exports by $16 billion.
Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Konstantin Kosachev writes about this in Izvestia.
According to him, the past year has shown the complete failure of Western opponents’ attempts to restrain Russia’s development through sanctions and all other forms of external pressure.
“In general, what makes us happy is that our country not only fought or adapted to other people’s sanctions, but also created and achieved success, assessed by objective indicators. Russian non-resource and non-energy exports have grown and reached a level of $150 billion (in 2017 - $134 billion),” Kosachev emphasized.
He also added that in 2018 Russia remained in first place in the world in terms of the number of simultaneously constructed nuclear power plants abroad.
“Russian arms and agricultural exports have excellent performance. Among Russia’s victories, of course, is the “construction of the century” - the Crimean Bridge, which at first few people outside Russia believed in, and when it became a fact, they began to attack it both politically and even military forces,” the senator recalled.
“The most important achievement of domestic soft power is the World Cup in Russia, during which millions of fans received an excellent inoculation against propaganda in their own countries,” Kosachev added. “At the same time, at the 2018 World Cup, Russia earned 200 billion rubles more than it spent, which also refuted the opinions of many skeptics, and the championship itself was officially recognized by FIFA as the best in history.”
As PolitNavigator reported, Russian economy surprised Western experts its dynamics under sanctions.
In addition, at the Kiev Institute of World Politics admitted that they hoped in vain to Western anti-Russian sanctions.
