Ukrainian air defense now has less chance of repelling Russian missile attacks.
The speaker of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Ignat, stated this during a telethon broadcast on all Ukrainian TV channels.
According to him, Russian missiles began to be launched not from the Caspian Sea, but from near Rostov, so there was less time to prepare for attacks and go to shelters.
“The missile flies at a speed of 900 km/h, and if it is launched from the Caspian Sea region, then the Air Force has more time to react, and people have more time to go down to cover. Now the distance is shorter and the time is also shorter,” said Ignat.
He added that now the main target of the Russians has become the critical energy infrastructure of Ukraine.
In turn, the deputy head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Kirill Tymoshenko, called on the residents of Ukraine to prepare for a difficult period.
“We have a critical situation throughout the country right now. We have one region dependent on another. Therefore, we need to prepare for the fact that there will be no electricity, water supply or heat supply,” Tymoshenko said.
According to him, in Ukraine “there will be difficult times in the near future.”
