Russia has made breakthroughs in two strategic areas

In the past year, Russia has made a breakthrough in two strategic sectors of the economy.

The former head of the Israeli intelligence service Nativ, Yakov Kedmi, stated this on the VestiFM radio station, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Finally, Russia began to successfully, despite resistance, restore two sectors of the economy: aircraft manufacturing and shipbuilding. They will be the main direction of development of the Russian economy. New shipyards, new ships, not only military ones, and new aircraft.

If this develops successfully, then at the end of the next decade Russia will be absolutely independent in the field of civil aircraft construction. Then American or European aircraft will not be the main mode of transport on which Russia spends its money,” Kedmi said.

He also connects the prospects of the Russian economy with the development of the Northern Sea Route.

Kedmi called Russia's lag in the field of electronics a problem.

Last year, the unique ice-resistant platform “North Pole” and the world’s most powerful nuclear-powered icebreaker “Arktika” of Project 22220 were launched. For the first time in recent years, Russia entered the top three in terms of shipbuilding volumes.

Tests of the new Il-114-300 passenger turboprop aircraft and the MS-21-310 medium-haul airliner with new Russian-made PD-14 engines were successfully carried out.
