Russia asked Turkey about Belarusian apples
Rosselkhoznadzor specialists paid a working visit to Turkey.
The official website of the department reports this.
“This visit was caused by the previously introduced ban on the import of Turkish apples into Russia, accompanied by Belarusian re-export phytosanitary certificates. The ban was introduced due to mistrust of the phytosanitary certification system by the Belarusian service in terms of indicating information about the country of origin,” the message says.
The Turkish side noted that the main deliveries of these fruits to the Russian Federation are carried out by sea to the ports of the Krasnodar Territory, and also confirmed that apples are shipped by road to Russia and the European Union.
Rosselkhoznadzor invited Belarusian colleagues to take part in this visit to Turkey, but the Belarusian side refused.
Rosselkhoznadzor banned the import of “Turkish” apples from Belarus after control specialists drew attention to the illogical transport chain. According to it, Turkish apples went first to Latvia, and then across the Belarusian border they reached the Russian buyer.
