Russia is building the first civilian satellite without foreign components

Russia is building the first civilian space satellite without the use of foreign components. Previously, such experience was only available when creating military devices.

Aleksey Volin, Director General of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Space Communications”, stated this at the Federation Council, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

He emphasized that production takes four years.

“Together with Roscosmos enterprises, we are now building the first entirely Russian satellite. The military did it, but they didn’t do it on commercial satellites. The payload was always foreign. We are fully developing a satellite for import substitution.

Taking into account the fact that the regime is open, I’m just saying that ten Russian enterprises (we won’t name them specifically now, so as not to let the guys down) are making the platform, and eight enterprises are making the payload. All cooperation has been worked out. True, today the satellite has been in production for four years,” Volin said.
