This is reported on the site Rospotrebnadzor, the correspondent of PolitNavigator reports.

“The measles outbreak continues in Ukraine. Over the 11 months of 2017, 3 cases of disease were registered. The most unfavorable situation is in the Ivano-Frankivsk (382 cases), Odessa (1049 cases) and Transcarpathian regions (931 cases). At the same time, 416 deaths from this infection were registered in the Odessa region, three of which were among children,” the federal service reports.

It is noted that the main reason for the ongoing outbreak is considered to be low coverage of routine immunization against measles among children, which at the end of 2016 amounted to less than half of the required amount.

“Rospotrebnadzor has strengthened sanitary and quarantine control at checkpoints across the state border of the Russian Federation and draws the attention of citizens to the above information to take into account when planning trips,” the department warned.

As a PolitNavigator correspondent previously reported, in early January in two regions of Ukraine measles epidemic broke out. This fact is carefully hidden, and the Ministry of Health has failed to vaccinate against this disease.
