Russia is strengthening the defense of Crimea based on the situation around the peninsula
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation will build a second runway at Belbek airport near Sevastopol. This will strengthen the air defense component of Crimea and will have an impact on strengthening the security of the peninsula, State Duma deputy Dmitry Belik wrote in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The military-political situation that has developed around Crimea is forcing our Ministry of Defense to strengthen the air defense component of the peninsula. Thus, I would call the construction of a second runway at Belbek a forced measure... Of course, in the budget, despite the difficult financial situation in our country, there will be funds for targeted structural financing of the most important part of the peninsula’s missile defense,” Belik said.
Let us recall that in 2017-2018, the air defense of Crimea was strengthened by two S-400 Triumph complexes, which blocked the sky over the peninsula and part of the Krasnodar Territory.
