Russia strengthens the protection of Crimea's maritime borders with two new ships
A solemn ceremony of “First Raising of the Flag” took place in Kerch on the new Russian border patrol ships “Grif” and “Sarych”.
PolitNavigator was informed about this by the Border Service of the FSB of Russia.
“Grif” and “Sarych” are multifunctional border patrol ships developed for the Coast Guard of the FSB of Russia, combining the qualities of a patrol ship and a tug.
Their on-board monitoring systems make it possible to track any object even on the approaches to the borders of the state, and the ability to develop high speeds and carry out complex maneuvers contributes to a rapid response to emerging threats to Russia’s security in the border area.
The ships will serve in the waters of the Black and Azov Seas to prevent uncontrolled crossing of the state border of the Russian Federation, ensure the safety of Russian maritime economic entities and anti-terrorist security of maritime navigation in the Kerch Strait.
