“Russia is increasing its influence in the Caucasus” – military expert
The war in Nagorno-Karabakh ended with a convincing victory for Azerbaijan, which managed to regain the areas lost a quarter of a century ago.
The Russian military historian Dmitry Boltenkov stated this in a commentary to Izvestia, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“From a military point of view, the conflict ended with a convincing victory for Azerbaijan. The country has regained areas lost more than 25 years ago, including those that it did not manage to recapture during the fighting. She also received transport corridors. The most important of them will be the route to the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic,” the expert notes.
He draws attention to the fact that now Russian peacekeepers will guarantee the existence of the NKR, as well as ensure the security of transport corridors for Azerbaijan.
“As a result, our country’s influence throughout the region will only grow,” Boltenkov believes.
According to the signed agreements, Karabakh will Russian brigade deployed, which at one time forced Georgia to peace.
