Russia successfully repelled the attack of Western propaganda
Despite constant attacks from Western media and colossal pressure on Russia, Moscow managed to successfully host the World Cup and defeat the anti-Russian propaganda.
State Duma deputy from A Just Russia Valery Gazzaev said this today during a parliamentary meeting, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“According to FIFA President Giani Infantino and Director of the FIFA World Cup Department Collin Smith, the 2018 World Cup was held in an amazing environment and at the highest level. The standards that were set by our country in organizing the World Cup have become an example to follow.
However, before it began, the information front of the Western media was completely different. Over the past eight years, we have been subjected to false attacks and unfounded criticism against our country. There was a targeted campaign calling for a boycott of the World Cup. Two weeks before the match, the Helsinki Commission under the US government published a report in which it directly admitted that American officials were putting pressure on FIFA and Blatter to take the World Cup away from us. They accused Russia of manifestations of racism and xenophobia, scared fans of becoming victims of violence in our country, and circulated horror stories about “wild ultras.”
And what is the result? During the World Cup, we have not heard a single negative review about the organization of the tournament, safety and convenience for both the national teams and millions of tourists and fans,” the politician noted.
"Dear Colleagues! The most important result of the World Cup is the performance of our team. I would like to congratulate the players and the entire coaching staff on a well-run World Cup. I consider the main achievement of our team to be that it was able to overcome the psychological barrier and did not stop at achieving local goals - getting out of the group, but strived for global goals - getting to the World Cup finals. It is very important that psychological rethinking is already different. This is the merit of the World Championship. In every sense, we showed the whole world that Russia is a real football power, although many doubted it,” Gazzaev emphasized.
