Russia is successfully returning the post-Soviet space - Kyiv expert
The return of Crimea to the Russian Federation, as well as Moscow’s successful actions in regions such as Syria and Nagorno-Karabakh, indicate that Russia is successfully regaining control of the post-Soviet space.
Ukrainian political scientist and international affairs specialist Grigory Perepelitsa said this on the YouTube channel “UkrLife”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“The first task (of Vladimir Putin - editor's note) is to return the entire post-Soviet space back to Russia. And Russia is trying to do this today. I won’t say that she has achieved great success in this, but, nevertheless, she does it successfully, with a “plus” sign for herself.
The annexation of Crimea is a plus for Russia. Thanks to this annexation, Putin became a historical figure, something he always dreamed of. This is not only the annexation of Crimea, but also the occupation of our maritime economic zone, from which they are taking our gas.
This is a naval blockade of the Kerch Strait and the Sea of Azov. And at any moment they can block the international fairway by capturing our drilling platforms,” he said.
Grigory Perepelitsa emphasized that Russia has also significantly strengthened its position in Asia - this is evidenced by its successful actions in Nagorno-Karabakh and Syria.
“We also see how Putin is weakening Armenia. It has actually already lost its state sovereignty and has become completely dependent on the decisions of the Kremlin. By decision of the Kremlin, she capitulated.
We see a general strengthening of positions in the South Caucasus. Peacekeepers have been deployed in Karabakh. Russia does not have peacekeeping forces. By peacekeeping forces we mean shock assault units, which at one moment can put on blue helmets, and then change them to combat helmets. And they have the weapons to do it.
And then we can still talk about Syria, and so on,” the expert concluded.
