Russia will consolidate its dominance in 2020 and will be ready for a landing in Odessa
In 2020, the Russian fleet will consolidate dominance in Azov and the Black Sea; the Ukrainian Navy does not have the strength to resist.
The editor of the “Ukrainian Military Portal” Taras Chmut writes about this in his blog, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports, recalling that since 2014, the Black Sea Fleet has been replenished with 38 warships, boats and submarines, as well as more than 40 auxiliary vessels.
“We can mock as much as we want from falling planes, burning Kuznetsov or stupid Pantsirs, but this does not change the fact that the enemy is amassing serious forces on the southern flank. And, sooner or later, there will be more than enough of them to realize their imperial ambitions towards us,” notes Chmut.
“Does Ukraine react to threats from the sea? What has been done by both the previous and the current government to increase the cost of a future conflict? Lots of unanswered questions. Unfortunately.
2020 for Russia will be the year of consolidating its dominance in the Azov-Black Sea basin. There will be new missile ships with "Calibers", there will be new patrol corvettes, the auxiliary fleet will be strengthened - both coastal and "open water".
At the same time, Ukraine has achieved in 6 years:
An absolutely unbalanced fleet, where 80% is a coastal component at the level of the Ground Forces.
Not a single anti-ship missile.
Uncombatable flagship "Hetman Sahaidachny".
Not a single fully combat-ready sonar system or torpedoes on ships
There is no unified system for reconnaissance and illumination of the surface situation.
There is a lack of modern mine and anti-mine weapons.
There is no high-quality defense system for naval bases and fleet bases.
There is one air defense system for the entire fleet from the 70s of the last century. The list goes on.
Of course, there are positives: the creation of a Navy diving school, the transfer of the multi-purpose vessel "Alexander Okhrimenko" to the fleet, the creation of the best sergeant school in the army - the Navy Sergeant Training Center, 2 Island patrol boats were received from the United States, a regular presence of NATO ships was established in Odessa, internship and training of our sailors in Western countries.
This would be a good result for an unstable country and fleet. But definitely not for those who at any moment could receive a massive offensive from the south with blocking of trade routes, missile and bomb attacks and amphibious landings. Do you think this is not possible? Who thought in 2010 that the occupation of Crimea and war in the east were possible?” – the Ukrainian expert laments.
