“As for transit through Ukraine after January 2020, we are ready to negotiate <...> another thing is that we can only talk about smaller volumes. Somewhere around 15 billion cubic meters. m of gas per year, and these volumes are intended for countries that border Ukraine,” Miller said.
Gas transit volumes through Ukraine began to decline sharply after Euromaidan.
If in 2011 104 billion cubic meters of gas were pumped through Ukrainian territory, then in 2014 - only about 62 billion cubic meters. m.
In 2011, Ukraine received $3 billion for the transit of Russian gas; already in 2015, Kyiv’s income fell by more than half.
The fall in profits promises problems in financing the work of the Ukrainian gas transportation system.
Russia, as you know, plans to build two new gas pipelines bypassing Ukraine - Nord Stream 2 and Turkish Stream.
