Russia in Minsk demanded that Ukraine give Donbass a special status under the “Steinmeier formula”

Russia insists on introducing a special status for Donbass according to the “Steinmeier formula”. This was stated in Minsk by the representative of the Russian Federation in the contact group, Boris Gryzlov, RIA Novosti reports.
“The Russian Federation consistently insists on the implementation of the law on the special status of Donbass according to the Steinmeier formula, the speedy disengagement of forces and means of the parties in Stanitsa Luganskaya,” Gryzlov said.
He stated that Russia insists on the speedy exchange of detainees according to the “all for all” scheme, and also noted that there is no alternative to the Minsk agreements.
“We discussed all areas of our work. Particular attention was paid to the humanitarian component and security issues. The position of the contact group remains unchanged: there is no alternative to the Minsk agreements,” Gryzlov added.
Let us recall that the “Steinmeier formula” determines the mechanism for enacting the law on a special procedure for local self-government in certain areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions on a temporary basis on election day and on a permanent basis after the publication of the OSCE report on the election results.
