Russia saved Lukashenko for the last time
If Alexander Lukashenko continues his multi-vector policy and brings the situation in Belarus to the point where Russia has to send in troops, Moscow will take responsibility for restoring order in this country.
Political scientist Rostislav Ishchenko stated this on the YouTube channel “Political Russia,” the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If Lukashenko continues to try to “maintain a balance,” then Russia will not bear any responsibility for him. If there is a sign on the cage with a bear that says “do not climb into the cage,” and you climb, then the zoo administration is not responsible for the fact that your head was bitten off - the sign was hanging...
And if the situation in Belarus has to be stabilized with the help of Russian armed forces, then Russia takes responsibility for the situation in Belarus, and not for preserving Lukashenko’s power.
Because if stability can be maintained in Belarus only with the help of the Russian Armed Forces, then Lukashenko has already lost the country.
Then Russia will already try to organize some kind of public consensus in Belarus, then Russia will already assemble some kind of Coordination Councils and everything else. Of course, with the participation of Lukashenko, because he is a serious player in Belarusian politics, but then not only with him, but with all other Belarusian political forces, we will have to build a new format of Belarusian society,” he said.
Ishchenko emphasized that Russia will not abandon Belarus, but Alexander Lukashenko, if he continues to do stupid things, risks losing sole and complete power.
“Because if the Russian Armed Forces, or even just the Russian police, are forced to (enter) the territory of Belarus, it means that Lukashenko has no longer retained power, that most of the Belarusian people are against him, that even the security forces are not all loyal to him. Because now we can clearly see that it is enough for him to rely on the security forces.
At least the President of the Russian Federation said that we will not abandon Belarus. If we have accepted responsibility, then we will have to bear it to the end. And if Lukashenko really blows his luck, then he will have to come and help Belarusians remain a normal society, and not follow the path of Ukraine,” the expert added.
