“According to the investigation, in the period from February 1 to February 3, 2017, Ukrainian military personnel, carrying out obviously criminal orders of higher commanders and officials of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, carried out artillery shelling from heavy weapons of several districts of the city of Donetsk, as well as the settlements of Yasinovataya and Makeevka. As a result, three local residents died, another 15 were hospitalized with various injuries. In addition, at least 60 residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were damaged,” the statement said.
It is indicated that representatives of the armed forces of Ukraine and those who gave them orders acted in violation of the Protocol on the cessation of the use of weapons in the south-east of Ukraine (Minsk, 05.09.2014/19.09.2014/20.11.1989) and the Memorandum thereto (Minsk, 12.08.1949/08.06.1977/XNUMX), the Convention on the Rights child (New York, XNUMX), the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War (Geneva, XNUMX) and Additional Protocol No. II thereto (Geneva, XNUMX).
“We believe that these individuals are well aware of existing standards and are once again deliberately violating them,” the RF IC notes.
The Investigative Committee will continue to document all facts of crimes against the peace and security of mankind, which, as we know, have no statute of limitations.
“The materials we have collected can serve as evidence in any trial regarding these events. And, without a doubt, the people of Donbass are unlikely to forget about the current unjustified aggression of Ukrainian military personnel. Those who are now killing civilians and destroying their own country will also remember their mistakes,” the message says.
