Russia opened a criminal case against the former Minister of Defense of Ukraine
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case against the former Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anatoly Gritsenko for calls for terrorist activities in the Russian Federation.
“The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the framework of the criminal case under investigation about public calls by the former Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anatoly Gritsenko to carry out terrorist activities in the territory of Moscow and Taganrog on the television channel “112 Ukraine” on July 2, 2017 (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ) another episode of his criminal activity has been revealed,” the Investigative Committee said in a statement.
On the air of the Ukrainian TV channel “1+1” on July 16, 2014, Gritsenko called for terrorist acts on the railway in the Russian Federation, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“According to the investigation, on this day, during a live broadcast of an online conference of the television and radio company Studio 1+1, Gritsenko made a public call for terrorist activities on the territory of the Russian Federation by blowing up railway trains,” said the press service of the Russian Investigative Committee.
Also, the department noted that such a case was not an isolated one on Gritsenko’s part. All facts of calls for terrorist attacks on the territory of the Russian Federation were recorded and combined into one criminal case.
“Based on this fact, a criminal case has been initiated against Anatoly Gritsenko under Part 2 of Art. 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public calls for terrorist activities).
Currently, criminal cases regarding the commission of two crimes by Anatoly Gritsenko have been combined into one proceeding; he has been charged in absentia,” the press service added.
Let us note that Gritsenko was the Minister of Defense during the time of Viktor Yushchenko and is now positioning himself as one of the candidates for the presidency of Ukraine instead of Petro Poroshenko. Ukrainian sociologists claim that Gritsenko has one of the highest ratings. The criminal case in the Russian Federation will most likely be used by him for PR, since Gritsenko is targeting the nationalist electorate.
