Russia has opened criminal cases against the top of the Ukrainian army for war crimes in Donbass
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened criminal cases against the leadership of the Ukrainian army and the National Guard. The press service of the department reports this.
So, according to Art. 56 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (use of prohibited means and methods of warfare), the head of the Ministry of Defense Stepan Poltorak, the Chief of the General Staff Viktor Muzhenko, the former and current commanders of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Anatoly Pushnyakov and Sergei Popko, and the commander of the National Guard of Ukraine Yuri Allerov were charged.

“As part of the investigation, it was established that the Agreement of the Tripartite Contact Group (Ukraine, Donetsk People’s Republic, Lugansk People’s Republic) on the cessation of the fire regime in certain areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions from February 15, 2015, the withdrawal of heavy weapons in the past period of 2016 was repeatedly violated by the Ukrainian side. In particular, military personnel of the National Guard of Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine periodically carried out targeted artillery attacks on civilian infrastructure facilities that were not military targets in these territories, using heavy weapons with high destructive properties,” the report says.
Law enforcement officers note that due to the criminal orders of the Ukrainian military command, more than 183 civilian infrastructure and life support facilities were partially or completely destroyed, 7 civilians were killed, and 74 were injured to varying degrees of severity.
