Russia resumed work on the “London list” of fugitive businessmen
Work has resumed with the “London list” - a list of Russian businessmen who are abroad because of criminal cases opened against them in their homeland.
Boris Titov, Commissioner for the Protection of the Rights of Entrepreneurs under the President of Russia, stated this on air on the RTVY television channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We had a long meeting with the prosecutor general just yesterday. We have already issued a special statement that work has resumed. We are again accepting applications from those who are abroad and want to return. At the same time, they will have guarantees that they will not be arrested,” Titov said.
According to him, 12 people have already entered Russia. A total of 100 applications were submitted to participate in the London List.
“Not everyone passes our filter, because we work only with those whom we consider to be right: they are accused of something they did not commit. We only help them. This is 37 people. They were given guarantees that their case would be reopened. The whole point of the “London list” is – what is the point of arresting them if they are returning to Russia anyway?
They are ready to prove that they are right, provided that a preventive measure in the form of arrest is not applied to them. They are ready for the fact that there will be both an investigation and a trial in their case. They want to live in Russia and run a business (you won’t develop much abroad). They believe that they have been unfairly charged and want to prove that they are right,” Titov said.
Earlier, he said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin that work on the “London list” had been stopped due to the position of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
