Russia met an American destroyer in the Black Sea with a training missile strike
The American warship USS Carney entered the Black Sea. This was reported by the press service of the US Navy's Sixth Fleet, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The purpose of the ship’s visit was declared to be “expanding interaction with allies in the region.” USS Carney has previously been to the Black Sea several times - it took part in Sea Breeze exercises with Ukraine, and also made visits to Bulgaria.
It is interesting that, almost simultaneously with the news of the appearance of the American destroyer, the press service of the Black Sea Fleet disseminated a message about successful exercises to destroy an aircraft carrier group of a potential enemy.
The exercises were carried out by crews of the Bastion coastal anti-ship missile systems (ASMS).
“As part of a surprise exercise, the Bastion DBK worked out the tasks of changing positions, deploying duty in a new deployment area and launching a missile strike against a mock enemy.
According to the plan of the exercise, the fleet control center received intelligence information according to which the carrier-based aircraft of a detachment of ships of a mock enemy are preparing to inflict fire on coastal infrastructure facilities and Black Sea Fleet ships.
“Bastion” crews discovered an aircraft carrier group of a mock enemy, brought the complex to combat readiness in the shortest possible time and, with salvo fire of cruise missiles (electronic launches), destroyed a detachment of ships before the carrier-based aircraft took off,” says the press service of the Black Sea Fleet.
