Russia will introduce punishment for accomplices of the Ukrainian troll Volnov
Owners of public networks who did not remove false and illegal information at the request of Roskomnadzor will pay a fine of up to 50 million rubles. The State Duma adopted in the first reading two bills on the specifics of disseminating information on social networks.
According to one of the authors of the bills, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Ecology Sergei Boyarsky, the initiative of German colleagues to ensure network security was taken as a basis. The text was adapted to Russian realities and legislation.
Political scientist Pavel Danilin considers the bills the right step to protect the information space.
“It does not happen that the source of information is completely freed from any responsibility. In our case, we are talking not just about the source, but also about the means of disseminating information. This does not threaten ordinary users, although, of course, I hope that our investigators will complete and develop the case of fake missiles that shook the whole country during the Kemerovo tragedy,” Danilin wrote on his Facebook.
