Russian President Vladimir Putin stated this at a meeting in the Kremlin.
“Scientists have made proposals on the most promising areas, which, of course, require additional funding. This additional funding for 2017 in the amount of 3,5 billion rubles will be provided,” the Kremlin’s official website quotes Putin.
According to Putin's assistant Andrei Fursenko, the research will be related to information technology, biology and genetics.
“We have identified three areas. This is genetic research for the benefit of medicine and agriculture. This is information technology in terms of quantum computing - today a very important promising direction, which allows us to provide a completely new quality in terms of information transfer. The third direction is research to create groundwork in the field of so-called nature-like technologies. This is the creation of minimally energy-consuming devices, including computers,” Fursenko said.
