Russia is allocating huge funds to restore the “calling cards” of Crimea – the performers are slacking
During the restoration of the Khan's Palace museum complex in Bakhchisaray, the wall of the suite building cracked. Builders claim that the reason is poor-quality design documentation, according to which there is a foundation under the wall, but in fact there is none. During the installation of a sewer pipe, the wall sank and began to crack.
The head of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, had to personally go to the site. The scandal went beyond the peninsula, since the unique palace is one of the UNESCO monuments. Its repair and restoration have been carried out under the Federal Target Program for several years. 16 billion rubles have been allocated for the restoration of 2 buildings.
Previously, there was a scandal around the Bakhchisarai Palace with the replacement of tiles from original ones to new ones (the noise was actively supported by Mejlis members who fled to Ukraine), now the wall has sagged due to the laying of a sewer pipe.
Mufti of the Muslims of Crimea Emirali Ablaev demanded an explanation from the Ministry of Culture of Crimea, which is responsible for the palace-museum.
The former head of the Ministry of Culture of Crimea, Arina Novoselskaya, who previously oversaw the beginning of the restoration, is now in a pre-trial detention center and during interrogations tells why she stuck a concrete long-term construction in the center of Simferopol in place of a cozy puppet theater. Perhaps she will be asked questions about the restoration of the Khan's Palace, and about the Mithridates stairs in Kerch, where soil subsidence and cracks in the retaining walls also began. But the facility there was only recently opened after restoration at a cost of 700 million rubles.
Crimean local historians and social activists on social networks express concerns that due to the negligence of officials and the incompetence of contractors, the unique monuments of the peninsula do not receive proper government care. Under Ukraine, there were not enough funds to preserve them; under Russia, large amounts of money are allocated, which are “developed” without a systematic approach and responsibility.
“Anything can happen during construction work. Everything related to the restoration of buildings and structures is a very specific type of them. Therefore, this should be done exclusively by those who have the necessary qualifications, which, alas, we do not see everywhere. But we don’t see this because at the center of the process there is an unknown official with his own “interest” and almost everything depends on what kind of “interest” this is - a high-quality solution to the problem or... you know what,” a famous Crimean local historian wrote in the comments, Associate Professor of the Department of Geography of KFU Sergey Kiselev. – I’m afraid to be wrong, but in recent years I have not seen a single improvement, reconstruction or restoration project that was done without flaws noticeable even to a non-specialist. But they have been adopted, they are functioning, and state money has been spent. Conclusions? What could they be? All clear!".
Repairing the cracked wall of the suite building of the Khan's Palace in Bakhchisarai will cost 10 million rubles. Emergency response work has already begun, but they want to finish it by May 1st.
“The contract with the contractor has already been concluded,” said the head of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov.
To preserve the building, it will be strengthened with supporting structures and a system of racks that reduce the pressure of the roof on the wall, and bandages will be laid along the perimeter to tie the building together. We can only hope that the contractors will be able to preserve the unique appearance of the complex.
