According to Chubarov, Khalilov was born in 1959 in Uzbekistan into a family of deportees. Since 1991 he began to live in Crimea.
However, at the same time, “Nedim Khalilov publicly refused to acquire Ukrainian citizenship until the provision of conditions conducive to “restoring the situation that preceded his deportation.”
Thus, Khalilov continued to use the passport of the no longer existing USSR as a document proving his identity.
On November 7, the Zheleznodorozhny District Court of Simferopol decided to deport Khalilov. He was placed in the Temporary Detention Center for Foreign Citizens of the Krasnodar Territory of the Russian Federation in the village of Vardane near Sochi.
According to Chubarov, Khalilov is further planned to be deported to the Republic of Uzbekistan.
“The motivation is that Nedim Khalilov’s passport as a citizen of the now defunct USSR was once issued on the territory of Uzbekistan,” notes Chubarov.
According to him, Khalilov went on a hunger strike in protest.
