“It’s a pity for the American diplomats who will now be expelled from Russia. They will lose the opportunity to work in an interesting country at an interesting time. Now they will be sent to some hole, Stockholm or Bucharest.
I know for sure that many hoped that the situation would somehow be resolved in Washington, and they would be able to work competently. Everyone understands, even the Americans, that the fault is entirely on the American side. But they also understand that this is a big struggle. But I feel sorry for the specific guys whose careers are being ruined.
Just like our diplomats, it was a pity. After all, ours were sent out rudely, within a few days, on New Year’s Eve. It’s good that Putin gave everyone a big charter.
Ours, as always, are polite in style: they send without force majeure. Moreover, the Americans themselves will decide who. This means they won’t send out scouts,” Markov noted in his blog.
