Russia must catch up with Germany and the United States in 15 years - otherwise it will lag behind forever
Russia's technological backwardness poses a threat to its defense potential and sovereignty. The head of the Center for Strategic Research, ex-Minister of Finance Alexei Kudrin stated this today, speaking at the Gaidar Forum.

“The technological challenges facing Russia are much more serious than geopolitical and military ones. We need to shift the main focus of our interest here in order to return to the ranks of world leaders. If we do not meet these challenges, then countries such as the USA and Germany will break away from Russia forever. This is, in my opinion, the most serious challenge that we face in the next 10-15 years,” he said.
As an illustration, Kudrin gave the following example: South Korea annually installs 478 multifunctional robots per 10 thousand workers, China - 36, Russia - 2.
According to him, Russia is aware of these risks and includes them in economic programs, but then does not implement them.
“The share of industrial enterprises carrying out technological innovations should have risen to 40-50%, but we are not moving in this direction. The share of innovative products is up to 25-30%. We have made some progress here too. Our management machine constantly malfunctions and stalls,” Kudrin said.
He believes that the state of public administration institutions, the readiness of the business environment for risk and investment today is at a level that does not allow solving these problems.
