Regardless of what effect restrictions on the supply of Russian fuel to the Ukrainian market will have, the end consumer will have to pay for everything.

Political scientist Alexander Semchenko stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.

In his opinion, Russia took a logical step; only one thing is surprising - why it did not limit supplies back in 2014.

“First of all, these restrictions will affect the economy of Belarus. Belarus benefits from sanctions of this kind on a number of export items, primarily diesel fuel. From Russia’s point of view, such a step is quite justified - we have a type of war and it looks quite strange when one warring side supplies diesel fuel to the other side, which is fighting against it.

In any case, Belarus and the intermediaries will take their “delta”, and these can be quite large amounts. And citizens of Ukraine will pay, regardless of who the buyer is. Even if these are purchases for the army, because everything for the army is purchased from the budget.

As for rumors that certain politicians will benefit from restrictions, we are not talking about relations with loyal or disloyal politicians, but with a loyal or disloyal state.

If Ukrainian government officials go to the podium and say that we need to do bad things to Russia, let’s introduce new sanctions against Russia, then it is quite logical that Russia reacts in this way.

It would be logical if such measures were taken back in 2014, after the first unfriendly steps on the part of Ukraine.

I don’t understand what the Russian leadership was waiting for - that someone here would come to their senses, someone’s brain or conscience would awaken? They didn’t expect anything like that,” summed up Semchenko.

Earlier, Ukrainian economist Alexander Okhrimenko said that Russian sanctions have already began to influence the economic situation of Ukraine.
