Russia launches new domain ".tatar" for Crimean Tatars
Yalta, September 26 (PolitNavigator, Alexander Kononov) – A new domain “.tatar” will appear in Russia to promote Tatar culture.
This was stated at the Crimean Internet Forum in Yalta by the director of the public relations department of RU-CENTER Andrey Vorobyov.

This is a top level domain. Priority registration for it began on August 29. According to Andrey Vorobyov, the domain is expected to have considerable demand, including among the Crimean Tatars.
“The domain will certainly be of interest in the republic, especially to the Crimean Tatars, since it is not positioned as a geographical domain, because some people think that this is a domain for the Republic of Tatarstan - no. This domain is positioned as cultural and linguistic and is created to promote Tatar culture, for all Tatars scattered around the world. I think that this domain zone will definitely find its consumers in Crimea. Perhaps much more than in other regions of the Russian Federation,” the RU-CENTRa representative emphasized.
