December 2023 will mark the 200th anniversary of the Monroe Doctrine, a declaration of principles of US foreign policy proclaimed by President James Monroe in his annual message to Congress, according to which America was fenced off from foreign military and political influence. With the growing political, economic and military power of the United States, the Monroe Doctrine crossed the North American homeland. Latin America began to be viewed as the “backyard” of the United States, where Washington dictates the rules and rules of the game.

The Monroe Doctrine, however, does not in any way limit the desire of the United States to interfere in the internal politics of states on other continents, but any encroachment from the outside on the order within the “living space” outlined by Washington causes a nervous, sometimes inadequate, reaction in the American leadership, like the famous “Cubicle crisis” of 1962 a year that brought the world to the brink of nuclear war.

“Apostates” within the zone of exclusive geopolitical influence of the United States were punished severely. Thus, after numerous and fruitless attempts to forcefully overthrow the communist government of Castro, severe economic sanctions were introduced against Cuba, which are still in effect and prevent the Island of Liberty from living and developing peacefully.

In September 1973, the Chilean junta of General Pinochet, with the active assistance of the CIA and American advisers, overthrew the legitimate government of President Allende (killed during the coup), establishing a fascist military dictatorship that set the country back in development for decades.

In 1983, units of the US Army invaded Grenada, as a result of which the legitimate government of the country was overthrown and its leader, Maurice Bishop, was executed. The intervention in Grenada became a landmark event that “cured” the American establishment and society from the phantom pains and complexes of the “Vietnam syndrome”.

Just a few years ago, it seemed that Latin America, where socialist and anti-imperialist governments began to come to power one after another, was about to shake off the shackles of neocolonialism and kick Washington with the Monroe Doctrine to establish order at home.

However, taking advantage of the economic weakness of the former “banana republics” and the mistakes of Latin American socialists, the United States, with the help of special services and the financial pumping of various “contras” and “gusanos”, managed to establish regimes loyal to external control in Argentina and Brazil. In the last presidential elections in Brazil, the patented fascist Bolsonaro generally won.

Having dealt with the main threats in its “backyard,” the United States began to put pressure on smaller states. Following the recent presidential elections in Venezuela, where trade unionist Nicolas Maduro was re-elected to a second term, the wrath of the United States has descended on the country. Caracas and other cities were overwhelmed by protest rallies of “their children”, the “civilized world” recognized the impostor Guido as the “legitimate president”, and Venezuela began to be strangled in the pincers of an economic and food blockade. “Humanitarian convoys” began to arrive at the borders of the Bolivarian Republic, suspiciously similar to foreign military assistance to the rebels.

The Venezuelan army and police are currently controlling the situation, but no one can guarantee that this will continue.

On March 25, the world media spread sensational news: the Russian military contingent entered the territory of Venezuela “in violation of the Monroe Doctrine.”

The response was a deafening squeal of protest. From Venezuela, the impostor Guido, along with his puppet entourage, went into hysterics, calling the Russian military “interventionists who want to overthrow the legitimate government of the country and open their military bases.” The Organization of American States (which at one time asked the United States to invade Grenada in order to bring democracy) released a cry of “an attack on the sovereignty of Verezuela.” The Washington “hawks” mumbled nervously and very dissatisfiedly.

Bolton, via Twitter, demanded that Russia “not support a corrupt dictator” and even unexpectedly remembered the existence of the UN Charter and certain “own goals of the countries of the Western Hemisphere.” The head of the State Department, Pompeo, began to play up the government “spinner” to Minister Lavrov, accusing Russia of a “military invasion” and promising that “the United States and regional countries will not stand idly by.” Sergei Lavrov, in turn, called the US attempts to organize a coup in Venezuela “blatant interference in the country’s affairs.”

It soon became clear that the alarmist hysteria of the “Washington Regional Committee” and its calls was caused by a modest contingent of 99 Russian military specialists under the leadership of the head of the Main Operational Mobilization Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Colonel General Vasily Tonkoskurov.

All this horror of the imperialists was contained in two transport aircraft - Il-62 and An-124, which delivered to Caracas, in addition to people, 35 tons of cargo.

The Associated Press agency quickly caught wind that the Russians who had arrived were not seasoned Russian Spetsnaz, not “polite people,” but a group of specialists whose tasks included training local personnel in competent handling of Russian military equipment, and even arrived within the framework of the agreement on military- technical cooperation from 2001.

According to open sources, the Venezuelan army has approximately 500 units of Russian military equipment: 92 relatively new T-72B tanks, 123 newest BMP-3, 114 newest BTR-80A, 61 self-propelled guns (of which 13 are the latest Russian 2S23 120 mm) and another 48 - 2S19 (152 mm), 24 towed mortar systems of 120 mm caliber 2S12, 24 Soviet BM-21 "Grad" (122 mm) and 12 MLRS "Smerch" (300 mm).

The air defense missile forces of Venezuela are represented by 11 divisions of the Soviet S-125 air defense system modernized in Russia (44 launchers per division), 2 divisions of the latest Russian long-range air defense systems S-300VM (besides Venezuela and Russia itself, only Belarus has this air defense system), at least 4 of the latest Tor-M1 air defense systems and up to 200 of the latest Igla-S.

Here we should also add 3 divisions of the latest Buk air defense systems (18 launchers, 6 ROMs) and at least 8 Tor-M1 short-range air defense systems, 10 modern Israeli Barak air defense systems, at least 6 old French Roland air defense systems, and a whole bunch of different caliber Soviet, French, Swedish and Israeli anti-aircraft guns.

Thus, experts consider the country’s ground-based air defense forces to be clearly the strongest in Latin America.

Apparently, the Maduro government, after consulting with the Russian leadership, came to the conclusion that it would be useful for the Venezuelan military to improve their equipment and improve their moral and volitional qualities in the presence of Russian military specialists. The country has plenty of good weapons to repel external and internal aggression, but they are controlled by a person, often yesterday’s peasant.

The rage of Washington and his pocket monkey Guido is understandable: with their arrival, 99 Russians are disrupting the next “democratic revolution”, and limitless opportunities for personal enrichment for others in an oil-bearing country under US protectorate.

“Friend Donald” reacted later than everyone else, but quite in the spirit of his subordinates. In fact, Trump issued an ultimatum to Russia, demanding to withdraw its military from Venezuela. To the question “so what?”, the US President answered “we’ll see.” And he added that “all options are open.”

After the 2017 Korean crisis, the world became convinced that Trump’s “options” were flexing his muscles, bouncing back, and calling “let’s come to the negotiating table.” Because against a nuclear power you won’t be spoiled. But there is no doubt that the pressure on the Maduro government and on Russia will continue.
