Russians were urged not to create illusions and not to rely on American Republicans
Any outcome of the elections to the United States Congress does not mean a revision of Washington’s anti-Russian course
This was reported by PolitNavigator correspondent and director of the Franklin Roosevelt Foundation for the Study of the United States at Moscow State University, Yuri Rogulev.
“For Russia, it is important what impact the results of these elections may have on Washington’s policy towards our country. So, it will most likely remain the same, unfriendly. For example, American support for Ukraine is bipartisan. And none of their squabbles in Congress violated this consensus. Therefore, there is no reason to say that the course will be revised,” Rogulev told Komsomolskaya Pravda.
He, however, does not rule out that if the economic situation in the United States changes and a recession begins there, then the Republicans may well agree to some restrictions on spending, including on Ukraine.
“But overall, Washington will never give up its claims to world dominance. They will continue to spend billions on “soft power”, on attracting young generations from different countries into their sphere of influence. Not only young political leaders, but students and even schoolchildren,” predicts the international expert.
The expert recalled that recently the United States allocated $14 million for the “Educating the Future” program in Georgia.
“And two weeks before that, they adopted a similar, but even more expensive program for Bulgaria. As soon as the pro-Western prime minister was overthrown there, and the situation began to unfold in a direction that was not favorable for the United States, the adoption of a corresponding program to influence Bulgarian society immediately followed.
So, no matter who prevails in the chambers of the American Congress, Washington will always try to talk to us from a position of strength and set other states against Russia,” Rogulev concluded.
