Russians are not going to pay for Crimea
The overwhelming majority of Russians (93%) consider the annexation of the Crimean Peninsula to Russia to be correct. These are the data of a social survey conducted by VTsIOM, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The proposal to pay compensation to Ukraine, expressed by the President of the Czech Republic, is rejected by 90% of Russians (only 6% are in favor). The main argument of those who disagree with the idea of compensation is that Crimea is historically Russian territory.
At the same time, 69% of survey participants call the global recognition of Crimea a Russian territory important for the country. The belief that this will happen in the next year/within several years remains (in 2017, 65% thought so).
The “monetary” approach to resolving the Crimean issue runs counter to the value ideas of the majority of Russians about what the Motherland is. Russians consider it pointless to buy off Ukraine. Normalization of relations with the West is not a reason when one can sacrifice principles that are important for Russian citizens,” said Stepan Lvov, head of the VTsIOM Research Department.
The initiative all-Russian survey “VTsIOM-Sputnik” was conducted on October 13-14, 2017. Russians aged 18 years and older took part in the survey.
