Russians are relaxing at home, but dreaming of Crimea
About 37% of Russians would like to spend a vacation in Crimea if they had enough money for this, 31% - in the Caucasus, 22% - abroad. Such survey data were presented today at a press conference in Moscow by VTsIOM General Director Valery Fedorov.

“Our dream is simple - to go to Crimea. The attractiveness of Crimea as a holiday destination has been continuously growing over the past three years. In 2014, 8% named a vacation in Crimea as a dream vacation, in 2015 - 27%, in 2016 - 36%. This is an absolute leader. Women and village residents want to go to Crimea more than others,” Fedorov said.
At the same time, only 10% of respondents actually plan to vacation on the peninsula, another 11% will go to the Caucasus. At the same time, almost half of Russians (47%) will remain at home due to lack of funds.
“There are interesting dynamics in Crimea. For the first time, an increase in plans to vacation there was recorded in the spring of 2014 (from 2 to 9%) and it continues. Crimea can count on a significant flow of tourists this summer,” Fedorov said, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The executive director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia, Maya Lomidze, does not agree with him. She believes that rising prices for vacations and air travel are scaring tourists away from Crimea.
“In real sales we see a decline in dynamics. If this year there are the same number of tourists in Crimea as last year, it will be a success, taking into account the price situation,” Lomidze said.
