This is evidenced by data from a poll conducted by the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTsIOM).
To the question “Who am I?” 59% of respondents would answer “citizen of Russia”, 31% – “just a person”, another 19% would name their role in the family (father, wife, grandmother).
90% of Russians surveyed answered that they were proud of the history of their country (in 2013, 85% of respondents answered this way), 90% (versus 63% three years ago) were proud of Russia’s strong army. The number of those who are proud of culture and art increased from 75 to 88%, science - from 60 to 82%, position in the international arena - from 50 to 72%, the level (quality) of life of the population - from 14 to 19%.
And it’s only their success in sports that Russians are less proud of. The number of those who answered affirmatively decreased from 77 to 75%.
