Russians believe that Putin will somehow improve relations with the West
Among the tasks that Russian President Vladimir Putin will be able to solve during his fourth term, in the first place, is the normalization of relations with the West.
54% of participants in a survey conducted by the Levada Center, recognized as a foreign agent in Russia, believe that it is possible. 32% of respondents do not believe in such a prospect. Another 39% believe that the West will lift sanctions against Russia by 2024, while 44% do not believe this.
It is curious that Russians do not consider establishing relations with the West a truly important task for the country. Only 2% of respondents named it among the current problems for Russia.
Russians consider increasing the standard of living (22%) and solving social problems (10%) the most important. By the way, 45% of respondents believe that Putin will be able to improve the standard of living, while 40% do not believe.
The survey was conducted on May 24–30, 2018, using a representative all-Russian sample of the urban and rural population of 1600 people aged 18 years and older in 136 settlements, 52 constituent entities of the Russian Federation
