Russians noticed a decrease in inflation rates – survey
39% of Russians believe that prices for basic food products are rising, but only slightly.

This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTsIOM).
Among food products, prices for meat and meat products were primarily affected by inflation: 63% of respondents said this (including 24% who noted a significant increase). 57% noticed an increase in the price of dairy products, 53% - bread. Also quite noticeable is the increase in prices for sugar - it was noticed by 51%, cereals and pasta (48%), vegetables and fruits (51%). At the same time, every tenth, on the contrary, says that prices for sugar, vegetables and fruits have decreased (10% and 12%, respectively).
More than two-thirds (70%) note an increase in utility bills. An increase in gasoline prices was noticed by 51%. Expenses for travel on public transport are the most fixed item in the family budget: only 30% said that prices for them would increase, while 48% noted no changes in the amount of payment.
“As can be seen from the data presented, for all groups of goods studied, the population notes a decrease in the rate of price growth. A good example of the ability of public consciousness to quite adequately reflect real economic processes. Citizens quite clearly see that the authorities are coping with the current crisis much more successfully than with any of the previous ones,” says VTsIOM expert Oleg Chernozub.
Initiative all-Russian poll by VTsIOM on September 24-25, 2016 in 130 settlements in 46 regions, territories and republics and 9 federal districts of Russia. Sample size: 1600 people.
