Victoria Voronova, who holds the post of chief specialist in the consumer rights protection department of the interregional department of Rospotrebnadzor for the Republic of Crimea, told the regional publication Crimea Inform.
Voronova also noted that the man, who suffered as a result of the incorrect operation of his bank card, had already contacted the central offices of Visa and MasterCard in Moscow and filed a corresponding complaint. In his statement, the Russian explained that some time ago he was unable to withdraw the required amount of money. The expert confirmed that the agency has already taken the client’s position and is ready to provide him with advisory support.
It is not specified exactly what amount the man was unable to get from an ATM located on the peninsula. The publication also chose not to disclose the amount of moral compensation that the bank client indicated in a statement to the management of payment systems.
Let us remind you that since yesterday, the UnionPay payment system, developed in China, has been servicing the peninsula. Baikal Bank, also operating in Crimea, has already begun to issue plastic cards of the required type.
Last summer, two large international payment systems, Visa and MasterCard, refused to provide their services to clients of several Russian banks at once. Among the latter were Rossiya Bank, SMP Bank, Investkapitalbank and Sobinbank. However, Vladimir Komlev, who holds the post of head of the Russian National Payment Card System, hastened to reassure clients of the above-mentioned organizations, promising that their stable work will resume at the end of 2015.
