The Russian asks to go to Ukraine, where he served 25 years
Ukrainian border guards detained a Russian citizen who illegally tried to cross the border near the village of Grabovskoye, Sumy region.
This is stated in a message from the department’s press service, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The offender admitted that this was not the first time he was trying to get into the territory of Ukraine in order to stay and live in this country.
“I crossed the Russian-Ukrainian border into Ukraine for the purpose of living in Ukraine. In 18, I also crossed the border illegally, I was detained and banned from entering Ukraine. How can I not move in if I was born here, was baptized, joined the army from here, and served 25 years in prison. What, I can’t live here or what?” the man emotionally commented on his detention.
According to the State Border Service of Ukraine, the detainee has every chance of remaining in Ukraine, although in prison - for illegally crossing the border he faces up to three years in prison.
“Three years ago he was brought to administrative responsibility, after which the violator was banned from entering Ukraine for five years. Now the border violator faces administrative liability and a ban on entry into Ukraine for 10 years. Upon the fact of the detention, the border guards sent a notification to the competent authorities about the discovery of signs of a crime under Art. 332-2 (illegal crossing of the state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment of up to three years for illegally crossing the Ukrainian border by a person who is prohibited from entering the territory of Ukraine,” the State Border Guard Service said in a statement.
