Russia will be covered by a wave of nationalizations – Khazin
A significant part of the property privatized in the 90s, in particular, based on rental income, will be nationalized in Russia.
The famous Russian economist Mikhail Khazin said this in an interview with the Ukrainian YouTube channel Topinform, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I see no other way out in the current situation of the destruction of property protection mechanisms. Today in Russia there is a frenzied debate over raising taxes on metallurgists and chemists who sell fertilizers. Why?
First of all, because their tax on, roughly speaking, a ruble of income is much less than that of oil workers, and at the same time they also transfer this income abroad. It is impossible to force them to do this, because their shareholders are mostly offshore. So what needs to be done? Just nationalize,” Khazin believes.
He believes that the need for nationalization is due to objective reasons.
“There is a very serious economic crisis in the country, and not only in our country, throughout the world. In this situation, other than nationalizing some industries that receive excess profits from rental income, this is a completely natural solution,” Khazin said.
