“We won’t destroy Russia, NATO won’t shine.” Kyiv diplomacy is depressed on the eve of the summit in Geneva
Ukraine urgently needs to change its aggressive anti-Russian policy, because in the event of a detente in relations between Washington and Moscow, the Americans will tell Kyiv to solve its problems themselves.
Diplomat, former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Alexander Chaly stated this on the Nash TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Since 2014, Ukraine has actually adopted the stratagem that with the help of the collective West, “Carthage will be destroyed,” we will destroy Russia. Essentially, now we see that at the meeting between Biden and Putin this stratagem ends, and we actually understand and begin to think that then we need to get out of this situation in which we have found ourselves with Russia. We are starting to look for new mechanisms, a new agenda, we are giving signals that they may exist,” the diplomat said.
“In our country, internal politics was structured in such a way that we now have a constitutional obligation to join the EU and NATO, we were driven into a trench. Since we are a democratic country, we need to get out of it through democratic means,” said the ex-deputy minister.
The diplomat also noted that in the event of a detente between the United States and Russia, the Americans will direct Ukraine to look for ways to resolve the conflict with Moscow.
“President Zelensky needs the people to understand, even those same NATO followers understand, that there is nowhere to go further. A change in the stratagem can be for two reasons - internal or external, in a democratic country. If a real dialogue and real détente begins between the United States and Russia, then they will outwardly tell us: “Guys, we cannot accept you into NATO. We need to look for a different formula for solving problems with Russia,” concluded Chaly.
