The dominance of oligarchs in Ukraine is a consequence of “centuries of occupation” by Russia.
Deputy of the Kyiv City Council from the Ukrainian nationalist party “Svoboda” Yuriy Sirotyuk stated this at a round table in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have been occupied and colonized for centuries. We were an occupied nation. The power was colonial, strangers ruled here. Colonization also spoiled the social plane, i.e. own.
We are still experiencing oligarchy today - these are the consequences of the Soviet occupation. This is a consequence of the fact that property in our country was taken away from Ukrainians and ended up in other hands,” Sirotyuk said.
